Camping Trip #10 - Hardridge Creek Campground

Ahhhhh.......  School's out for the summer!!!!!

We spent Father's Day Weekend at Hardridge Creek Campground on Walter F. George Lake in Abbeville, AL.  What a wonderful weekend.

Pros:  ok bike riding, swimming during the warmer months is possible if you dare, dog friendly, nice paved campsites, nice sites with plenty of shade, beach area was almost private and only steps away from the campsite

Cons:  Ants, Ants, and more ANTS!!!  The ants were inside, outside, everywhere.  Easier to avoid but equally disturbing... leaches... in the grass where we were swimming.  Tiny leaches would attach themselves to you if you stood or played in the grassy areas of the water.  AVOID the grassy areas!!!

My family gives this campground/park a not so good rating.  I am almost positive we will not return to this campground.  Maybe it would be better in the winter when the bugs might not be so bad and swimming wouldn't be a possibility???

Nice beach area and fun kayaking
Let the good times roll......
The girls loved paddling around in the lily pads.
and collecting flowers.

The boy took good care of us.
Sometimes on Saturday afternoons we have a "happy hour".  We put out fun snacks to share with everyone and do a little socializing.  Here the girls are teaming up against the dads during a "friendly" game of  Uno while eating a delicious poundcake that was made with love by one of our favorite Nana's - - - Linda Webb --- AKA Mama Webb.
While the girls were winning at Uno, Connor was checking out the fishing scene.....
Happy Fathers Day!!!
Just some of the local wildlife.
The shirt says it all.... "Weird is the side effect of Awesome"

Camping Trip #9 - Bluff Creek Campground

When Scotty and I arrived at Bluff Creek we were concerned about the fact that the creek was correctly named and we were a decent ways up on a bluff.  It was going to be a challenge to get down into the water.  At this campground we tried out a Buddy Site (2 individual campsites with a shared common area) with our friends the Walsinghams.  And the Webb family joined us on the trip.

Pros:  good bike riding, beautiful scenery, fun playground, swimming during the warmer months is possible if you dare, dog friendly, nice paved campsites, buddy site was very nice

Cons: the bluffs, creek had a strong current

My family gives this campground/park a so, so rating!

*Should try this one in the fall or winter when it is not so hot.

***Site 52/53  Good Site, Buddy Site***

The buddy site was perfect, exactly what you would expect....
adequate individual campsites, large common area

and plenty of space to just hang out.

The bluff....

The kids did not seem nearly as concerned as the adults were about getting down the bluff.

Us moms were soaking up some rays and the girls start coming up the bluff towards us.  They looked like models.  :)
Here we have Catherine sporting the coral colored one piece....

And Jarah, playing it safe in the bright orange life vest....

And finally Alex, rocking the rainbow tankini top and sporty swim shorts.

Connor came up with the best way to get down to the water.... a mud slide.  I'm not sure this was the safest way to go down (note the wooden structure at the bottom of the slide) but it was definitely the fastest and the most fun way.

Seriously.... you don't expect them to go cold turkey for the whole weekend.  They can only take so much of the nature stuff before they start going into withdrawals.

The kids LOVE for us to all eat together while we're camping.

Me: "What was your favorite part of the weekend?"  Alex: "The mud slide"
Just us.... What a great weekend!!!!!

Camping Trip #8 - White Oak (Creek) Campground

We spent a few days during Spring Break 2016 at White Oak Creek Campground in Eufala, AL.  It is located on the Walter F. George Lake and it is absolutely beautiful.  The weather was a little cool and a lot rainy but we still had a wonderful time.

Pros:  good bike riding, beautiful scenery, old but fun playground, swimming during the warmer months, dog friendly, nice paved campsites

Cons: uhmmmm.......

My family gives this campground/park a thumbs up!

***Site 82***  Good Site!

Fun playground but beware of the merry go ground.  If your dad decides to push you really fast make sure that you hold on tight!  Just sayin'....

Let the fun begin...

Ahhhhhhh

Let me say again, God is so good and I love it when He shows off.  :)

Our campsites were literally only steps away from the shoreline.

It rained ALOT one night but No Worries....
we just headed into town and found the local Pizza Hut and Walmart.  Don't ask if we bought the toys after we played with them.  ;)

Great dads giving some fishing lessons.

While the kids are learning to fish me and the boy are just chilling out.  Seems he has claimed my chair as his own.
Headed home after a weekend of fun.

Think she had a good time????

Camping Trip #7 - St. Andrews State Park

Valentine's Day Weekend 2016 and we were back at our favorite local campground.   Even though it was a really cold weekend we still enjoyed bike riding, spending time at the beach, the nature walks and wildlife, sunsets, and campfires with friends.

Camping Trip #6 - Seminole State Park

In November, 2015, we traveled out of town to Seminole State Park located on Lake Seminole near Donalsonville, GA.  I regret that I have very few pics of this park and equally as many memories about this spot.  Judging by these pictures the campsites were adequate and the view was lovely.  Maybe the Walsinghams could give a little more insight regarding this campground.

Camping Trip #5 - Eastbank Campground

In October of 2015 we found ourselves at Lake Seminole again at Eastbank Campground in Bainbridge, GA, which is on the FL/GA state line.  I have a lot more pictures and memories from this park.

Pros:  good bike riding, beautiful scenery, dog friendly, nice paved campsites, lots of cool birds - we even saw an eagle

Cons: no playground, swimming is questionable due to lots of stumps and grass

My family gives this campground/park a so, so rating!
